Madeline Stuart is 18-years-old and from Brisbane, Australia. Last year, she decided to focus on her health and lose weight, following a struggle with her weight stemming directly from her disease and heart problems. One of the reasons she decided this… The young woman aspires to be a fashion model.
After successful losing 40lbs (10 kilos) she is now trying – with help from her mother – to make it as a model. Her mother tells her every day how beautiful and fantastic she is, UK paper Metro writes.
“Maddy has never been selfish and worries about everyone. In basketball if someone on the opposite team falls over she will stop playing and help them up,” her mother told the UK’s Daily Mail.
After a tough start with exercising, Maddy now swims 5 times a week. She also plays cricket and dances with the hip-hop dance group “Bust a Move”. This summer the group will travel to Los Angeles to perform.
At the moment, she’s looking for an agency that can help her with her modelling career.
“People with Down syndrome can do anything. They just do it at their own pace. Give them a chance and you will be rewarded beyond your greatest expectations,” her mom said. “I think it’s time people realised that people with Down syndrome can be sexy and beautiful and should be celebrated,” she added.
