Fourteen-year-old Ellie Yeater lives in Williamstown, Massachusetts. And over the summer, she didn’t spend her vacation sitting in front of the TV or lounging on the couch. Instead, she used money she received as a birthday present to buy herself an old camper from 1974. Then after doing a lot of research, she got to work transforming the old camper into her very own dream home.
And I have to say, when I saw the “after” photos, I was thoroughly impressed.
This summer was a special one for 14-year-old Ellie Yeater. She decided to completely renovate a camper from 1974. She paid for it with birthday money and turned it into a beautiful space to call her own.
Inside was going to take a lot of work. All of the furniture had been untouched since the 70s, so it needed a thorough renovation. So in went Ellie… She started by scraping the floor.
Her father and brother are both handy and have carried out many renovation projects, so they were close at hand to help and guide Ellie.
After scraping the floors and prepping for the makeover, it was time to start decorating.
The first thing Ellie wanted to change was the color of the camper. She wanted it to give her own style, so painted it a bright, beautiful blue called “mystic sea.”
Now it was time to tackle the inside, and Ellie painted it a peachy color and accented it with aqua blue.
Next, Ellie installed new floor tiles. Gone were the old tiles from the 70s with in were fresh, new wood-patterned ones.
Now it was time for Ellie to bring in decoration to truly make the camper her own.
And Ellie’s grandmother even got involved, sewing curtains, towels, and pillow cases.
In the space of one summer, Ellie turned the camper into her own private place—and it’s barely recognizable in the before and after pictures.
Isn’t this cool 14-year-old an inspiration! Impressive!
While she was working on the project, Ellie got advice and guidance from her loved ones, who wanted to help her with her summer project. Now, of course, they have a standing invitation to visit her in her camper.
Impressed that a 14-year-old did such a great job on this project? Please share if you also think that Ellie deserves two big thumbs up!
