One of my fondest childhood memories is of lacing up my rollerblades and skating around my neighborhood. Although I was pretty coordinated, I never got close to the speed and grace that the girl in the video below achieves. The skater’s name is Sofia Bogdanova and the 10-year-old is a champion in the sport of Freestyle slalom skating. The idea is to perform tricks around a straight line of equally spaced cones. If you’ve never seen it, slalom skating is quite mesmerizing to watch. In the clip below, Sofia turns to the right, waits for the music, and unveils a magical performance once the beat drops. And talk about control! This girl takes skating to a level that I never would’ve even thought possible when I was a kid.
