By now, most people know that every time you hold a cell phone up to your ear, you’re also exposing yourself to harmful radiation. But did you also know that this is especially dangerous for children because children’s brains absorb much more radiation than those of adults?
It’s kind of shocking because it appears that cell phone radiation would affect us all in the same way. But the fact that radiation affects children more deeply than adults is especially worrisome because children who experience cell phone radiation are doing so at a time when their brains are still developing.
Studies from Sweden in 2008 show that when people start using cell phones before the age of 20, they are five times more likely to develop cancer by their late 20s.
And did you know that in 2011, The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified radio frequency fields (including those from cell phones) as a possible carcinogen?
The dangers of cell phone use picked up steam in 2011 when the World Health Organization (WHO) admitted that cell phone radiation could cause cancer. The statement came after a decision by a team of 31 scientists from 14 different countries after reviewing evidence.
This video from 2015 shows Dr. Martin Blank, Ph.D., from the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University, as he joined a worldwide group of scientists to appeal to the United Nations about the dangers associated with the use of various electromagnetic emitting devices like cells phones and WiFi.
For parents, it’s important to educate ourselves so we can help our children grow up to be healthy adults. Since no one knows the effect of a lifetime of cell phone use, it’s in our best interest to educate ourselves so that we can help our children become healthy, responsible adults.

Share this story with anyone with children who use cell phones so that they can protect themselves from the dangers of radiation as well as they can.
