A 38-year-old woman in Oklahoma, USA, was charged with child abuse last Thursday after leaving her 1-year-old daughter in a hot car for 45 minutes. This is a good reminder to all of us: we must NEVER leave kids or animals in our cars.
Every tenth day a child dies in the US after being left in a hot car. Sometimes the parents forget about the kids, and sometimes they just don’t realize how hot it can get in a car. That’s why it’s so important to share this warning during summer. Never ever leave kids or animals in your car!
Further down, there’s a video showing a mom being confronted by the police after shopping at Walmart for 45 minutes. All this time her 1-year-old daughter was waiting in the car. Luckily, some people that were walking by realized what was going on and got the little girl out of the car. By then, the temperature in the car was over 104F (40C). Just 10 minutes later, it would’ve been 122-160 degrees (50-60C).
When the mother finally showed up together with her other daughter, the police was waiting. Paramedics were already on the scene and the mom was arrested immediately, on suspicion of child abuse. A police filmed the entire event and the mother is shocked when she realizes what she has done.
The little girl was taken to hospital where her father later picked her up and brought her home. This time, it ended well and the child was OK. Ten more minutes in the car and things could have ended much more tragically.
The video down below is very dramatic, but I want to share it anyway. Because this is a good reminder on how quickly things can go wrong and how dangerous it is. Never leave kids in the car!
