Disturbing surveillance video from a gas station in Milwaukee shows a baby thrown from her car seat onto the ground as two people struggle during an early morning fight.
New details surrounding the horrific images reveal why the 10-month-old was thrown “like a rag doll” early Friday morning.
Jessica, the mother of the 10-month-old baby in now viral video, alleges that she and her daughter were being held against their will by a man she had known for about a month.
Reportedly the suspect, Ronald Ziedman Jr., had held Jessica and her daughter in a locked SUV for hours. When they pulled into a gas station, Jessica saw it as her opportunity to escape her captor.
“I did unstrap my child because I felt that, as a mother, if I unstrapped her, I could hand her to the gas station man because I knew there was cameras in there,” she told WISN 12 News.
She told the gas station clerk to call the police, but never got the chance to hand her baby over. After the two left the bathroom, there was a struggle and Ronald reaches for the baby’s car seat.
“It just never crossed my brain that a man would take a car seat and do what he did to get to me,” Jessica said.
In one quick motion Ronald grabbed the carrier, and the 10-month-old baby was thrown from her car seat.
“As a mother, I mean, what can you think,” she said. “Your daughter’s being thrown like a rag doll and just rolling on the concrete.”
Ronald is shown on surveillance picking the baby up and placing her in the car before he returns to the store to beat Jessica until she’s unconscious.
The suspect then drove to a nearby casino with the baby still in the car. A security guard spotted him and called police.
He was arrested and charged with a second OWI, child abduction, substantial battery, and false imprisonment. Since he is already a convicted felon, he could face 50 years in prison from these new charges.
Although both the baby and mother suffered bruises from the horrible incident, they are both recovering, according to WISN 12 News.
