School bully knocks out 7th grader’s tooth, sparks national outrage

When I was young, there was one lesson that was impressed upon me by my parents above all others.

Of course, I was taught to be kind to strangers, to remember my pleases and my thank-yous, not to steal, not to curse, and not to use the Lord’s name in vain.

Yet my mom and dad went to great lengths to make sure I understood that bullying was, and would always be, completely unacceptable.

Sadly, apparently not all kids are given that vital lesson, or if they are then they soon enough forget it and their transgressions against others aren’t properly dealt with at an early age.

Despite the fact we like to believe society today exists in a state of heightened awareness, bullying is still rampant in schools and work places.

Anyone looking for the tragic proof of that fact need only look so far as the case of Charlee Funes, a 13-year-old girl from Illinois who was the subject of a Facebook post that went viral in just 24 hours this summer.

Charlee said she had been a months-long victim of a bully who actively sought to make her life a misery. Said bully allegedly pulled Charlee’s hair and called her names, amongst other things.

Yet things escalated one day when the bully slammed Charlee to the floor during gym class. Charlee, as the picture shows, lost half her front tooth and suffered bloody scrapes all over her face.

The traumatized young girl said that her bully only acted out against her when teachers weren’t looking – her family said she was terrified to return to school.

What’s more, Charlee’s mom told Inside Edition that the alleged bully was only given a two-day suspension.

“If there’s no repurcussion for what she has done, it’s just going to get worse and worse,” her mom said.

A Facebook post detailing the abuse Charlee faced at school was shared more than 100,000 times in just 24 hours, highlighting the fact that there are quite literally thousands of people who are concerned about bullying and think that it has no place in society.

Even so, Charlee’s is far from an isolated case. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s high-time we live in a world where bullying doesn’t dare to show its ugly face.

Parents, please teach your children that it is completely unacceptable to bully another child. Perhaps if even more emphasis is placed on learning them the absolute rights and wrongs early, we can ensure that future generations are better suited to eradicate bullying once and for all.
