A nurse in New York City hospital was arrested on Thursday after she allegedly stole a credit card from a dying coronavirus patient and used it to buy gas and groceries.
As per reports, Danielle Conti, 43, is now facing charges of grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
It’s alleged that Conti stole the credit card from Anthony Catapano, a 70-year-old patient being treated for COVID-19 at Staten Island University Hospital where she works.
As per NBC News, Conti was issued an appearance ticket by NYPD on Thursday and later released.
Anthony’s daughter posted to Facebook after her dad died of coronavirus on April 12. In that post, she said that an employee at the hospital had taken his credit card, used it to buy groceries and then returned it.
The post read: “Due to the pandemic no visitors are allowed, therefore that means a hospital employee stole my fathers credit card, used it and then returned it to his wallet. What type of disgusting piece of shit does something like this??? They should be ashamed of themselves. How would they feel if this was their parent.“
If the allegations turn out to be true, and this nurse did indeed take Anthony’s credit card and spend his money after his death, she deserves punishment.
