Going on vacation is supposed to be a time to look forward to an enjoy. Without a doubt, David and Michelle Paul were looking forward to visiting the paradise that is Fiji.
But little did they know that this would be their last trip, and that they would never return home to their families and their 2-year-old son, Aiden.
David and Michelle reportedly started feeling ill just a few days into their dream tip. They were both in great shape: she used to be a college athlete and he was an Air Force veteran.
Then, Michelle called her father, Marc, to let him know that she and David were suffering from a number of symptoms, just a numbness in their hand, vomiting, and diarrhea. They were going to go to a local clinic for help.
But their condition quickly deteriorated. Both died just days later and within days of each other.
“We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into the cause of death,” a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said in a statement. “We stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance.”
David and Michelle’s families want answers about the deaths of their loved ones. Right now, they are not getting the answers they need to mourn, and the illness is being called a mystery.
“Nobody’s telling me what was the cause of the death,” Michelle’s father told TODAY. “And that’s very hard for me.”
“Every time people call my wife, she cries very hard,” he added. “But I keep telling my wife we got to stay strong because we have a new job – Aiden. We have to take care of Aiden.”
Please send this family your heartfelt thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time by sharing. Hopefully, they will get answers soon. RIP David and Michelle!
