A young mother in Canberra, Australia, had just spent several days in the hospital along with her nine-week-old son.
She was tired and exhausted, and the last thing she needed was more bad news. But just when she thought her situation couldn’t get any worse, she got more bad news. When she went to the parking lot to get in her car, she noticed a parking ticket on the windshield.
It wasn’t the best way to end a hospital stay, but it aslo wasn’t the only surprise waiting for the mother that day.
When the woman unfolded the parking ticket, she was met by a surprise—a handwritten message on a pink Post-it note. A mysterious stranger had written on it:
“Hi, there. I saw your car had a parking ticket on it. I’m sure whatever you are going through at hospital is tough enough so I have paid for you. Hope things get better!”
The note was signed “Laura” but besides that, nothing else is known about the person who wrote it.
The grateful mother told her story on the Canberra Mums Facebook page.
“I hope that Laura sees this and knows how much I appreciate her support. Thank you so much,” she wrote.
The woman doesn’t say whether she has come into contact with Laura since the incident, but her post has been shared more than 16,000 times and people around the world are praising the kind stranger.
“What a lovely lady Laura must be. Her random act of kindness helped this lady when she obviously needed it. You truly are an angel, Laura,” wrote one person while another wrote, “Needs to be more Lauras in this world.”
I have to agree! This is exactly the kind of thing we need more of.
