The woman apparently received calls from multiple parents alleging that their children had been molested at her daycare and she realized it was her husband who was the perpetrator.
50-year-old Shanteari Weems is a resident of Randallstown in Maryland. She runs a daycare in the Baltimore County area and is well known in her community.
5 years ago Shanteari married James Weems, Jr. a former officer. The Baltimore Police Department has confirmed that Weems Jr. was a member of the force who retired in 2005 and worked as a contract specialist for the department till 2008.
According to police officials, Shanteari shot her husband and then barricaded them both in a room at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Police arrived at the hotel at 7:40 pm last Thursday. They communicated with Seanteari through the door.
Police asked her if someone inside had been shot, to which Weems responded, “he’s a child molester.”
Weems told officers that she had recently received several calls from parents about their children being molested by her husband. According to court documents, Weems was in the middle of confronting her husband about the alleged molestations when she shot him as the situation had escalated.
According to Weems, her husband began charging toward her, which is when she shot him. The police also found an apology note to the kids and families who suffered the alleged molestation. As well as a makeshift last will and testament from Weems.
According to police officials, her husband was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Weems was arrested by the police and will remain in custody till her hearing which is expected to continue on Friday. Charges brought against Weems are possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition and other gun-related counts
We hope justice is served in this case and the community is able to heal from this incident.
