Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful act. For many moms, it’s a key part of raising a child to be big and strong and giving him or her the right nutrients. It’s also a way to bond with the child.
Whatever your stance is on public breastfeeding, the reality is that a mom can decide to nurse in public anytime, anywhere. Some people are unbothered by it, while others sense some discomfort at the sight.
So when one woman saw another mom partially disrobe to breastfeed her baby, she took issue. She approached the woman and asked her to breastfeed in private, away from her “easily distracted” husband and child.
The mom, in response, reportedly “squirted” her breastmilk at her.
The woman took to Facebook to complain about the incident.

The woman who posted online about the incident has been called a public breastfeeding-shamer, while others have come to her defense. However, it’s clear that the “easily distracted” husband is her issue, not the mom’s.

One woman commented on the post, “This is not serious surely?! A Baby can’t eat because your husband is easily distracted?! Has he never seen a boob?! Perhaps you could show him one so he won’t be distracted in the future!! And if it is true and she squirted at you then that’s just made my day – no week!”
What side of the aisle do you fall on? Do you agree with the poster’s opinion that breastfeeding should be a private act? Or do you think that the mom’s response was appropriate? Or do you think that this could have been addressed in a totally different way?
Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful act, but whether or not you believe that it should be done in public is another matter entirely. Please share to get the debate going!
