Abby Sayles, 4-years-old, is battling leukemia and is treated at Albany Medical Center in New York. Her favorite nurse is Matt Hicking, and her biggest dream was to marry him. And now, her dream has come true. Last week, the “wedding” took place at the hospital and the entire staff was involved in making this a memorable day for Abby, according to WNYT.
The nurse Matt Hicking has become young Abby’s favorite at the hospital. She told her mom she looked forward to next hospital visit because then she and Matt would get married.
The “wedding plans” came as a total surprise for Matt. However, he managed to arrange the “wedding” in less than a day.
And last week, the marriage took place at the hospital. The staff had decorated the “aisle” with rose petals and Abby wore a pink dress with a matching bouquet of flowers, according to WNYT.
Many persons from the staff helped out to make it a special day for Abby. They hummed the wedding march, Abby’s doctor acted as the presiding official at marriage and some nurses acted as bridesmaids.
When the time was right, Abby ran over to Matt and popped the question: “Matt, will you marry me?” And the answer was of course “I do”.
The “wedding” party included a wedding cake and Matt driving around Abby in a pink toy car with a “Just married”-sign on the back.
– Matt is awesome and kind, Abby told WNYT.
Abby has at least one year left on her treatment, but hopefully the “wedding” will give her some extra energy.

This is truly beautiful to watch and I can really understand why the nurse’s gesture is hailed all over the world.
