An 11-year-old boy from Indiana has died from injuries suffered while playing with fireworks at the weekend.
As per tragic reports, Camrynn Ray McMichael was seriously injured shortly before 9:40 p.m. on Sunday.
A press release from Indian State Police revealed how emergency dispatchers in Posey County, Indiana had responded to a 911 call from a home in Mount Vernon.
According to the New York Post, 11-year-old Camrynn succumbed to his grievous injuries in an ambulance en route to Evansville Hospital.
The boy’s mother, Kyrra Lynn, wrote an impassioned Facebook post on Monday, detailing what had happened to her son.
“I held my sons (sic) broken skull & brain in my hands last night yall.!” the post read.
“I’ll never see my son again over a f—ing firework,” she continued. “Don’t ever think it can’t happen to yours.”
Lynn later added in an interview that her son’s death had been “a tragic freak accident.” She detailed how her son had been protecting his younger sister, Karmynn Louise McMichael, at the time of the incident, “like a big brother should!”
“He died being a boy and playing with fireworks,” she said.
A GoFundMe page has been launched to help with Camrynn’s funeral expenses. The fundraiser detailed how the 11-year-old had been an “all around amazing smart kid” who was excited to begin middle school this fall.
“Cam was always willing to give a helping hand to whoever needed it,” Alexandra Eaton, Lynn’s sister-in-law, wrote. “Cam took pride into being a big brother and adored his baby sister.”
As per reports, no official cause of death has yet been given. The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police, Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Posey County Coroner.
All of our thoughts and prayers are with Camrynn’s family at this most difficult of times.
