Beau Dermott might look like an innocent little girl, but the second she opens her mouth and starts to sing? I was absolutely floored. Apparently, looks can indeed be deceiving. Within seconds, this 12-year-old’s voice had the entire audience in disbelief of what they were hearing. Beau chooses to take a shot at the song “Defying Gravity” popularized by the musical Wicked. The difficult song won a Grammy for best musical album in 2003, and it’s certainly not a song to take lightly. It requires both a great voice and extraordinary empathy. I never thought that a 12-year-old could achieve both of these. Achieve, and surpass, in fact!
