Have you ever wondered why there’s an extra shoelace hole at the top of your sneakers? It’s about choice, right? Some people prefer the lace up with the front hole and some people prefer the back one. Well, that’s what I thought… Until I watched this video.
Most of us are so eager to go for a run or a hike that we don’t even notice that our sneakers or hiking boots have an extra shoelace hole. Besides, we’ve all been tying our shoes since kindergarten, so we must be doing it right! But after you watch this video, you’ll see that there’s a better way to tie your shoes.
The extra holes make it so you can tie your shoes in a new way that locks your feet into place. It’s called a “heel lock” or a “lace lock.” That means your heels won’t slide around and you won’t get blisters. And it means that your feet won’t slip forward and jam your toes into the front of your shoes, either. You’re left to run like the wind or climb up that mountain without thinking about your aching feet the whole time.
