Police in Fayetteville, North Carolina shared a heartwarming photo of an officer and small child that’s serving as a public service announcement.
According to police, a concerned citizen spotted a car around 7 a.m. Friday with two people inside.
The people appeared to be slumped over and unconscious.
Fayetteville police responded.
When the police responded they found Joshua Write, 28, and Alicia Kowszik, 26, inside, as well as their 1-year-old son.
“This is something that we see routinely and it’s sad,” Sgt. Jeremy Glass said.
Police arrested the couple and charged them with posessession of heroin and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
While officers waited for the young child’s grandparents to arrive, Officer Michael Sheeley consoled the boy.
“Fortunately, officers were able to capture that candid shot of Officer Sheeley and that young child.”
The police department shared the touching photo on Facebook where it received a lot of attention.
They also took the opportunity to bring awareness to how drug use affects everyone.
