Prom can be a nervous ordeal for even the most confident of teenagers. Sourcing a date, getting dressed up to the nines, arriving in style … these are all things that can induce stress.
Needless to say, the prospect of attending a prom becomes doubly nerve-wracking when you already have anxiety. The noise, the people, the weight of expectation; it’s small wonder teens who dislike social situations view prom with angst.
And yet few will have experienced the nightmare scenario endured by Emilee Perry. The 16-year-old didn’t want to attend because of her anxiety, only for her mom to convince her to don a dress and go. Hours later, she left the event in tears after a bully poured a jug of juice on her head.

It took some amount of convincing on her mother’s part to get Emilee to go to her prom. The 16-year-old struggles with anxiety, and the end of year dance was something she thought would be better skipped.
Nevertheless, her mom was dogged in her efforts to change her mind. After a while, she gave in, got a dress and ensured her make-up was on-point.
Emilee, looking resplendent, made the bold steps needed to overcome her fear, and she should have been rewarded with a night she would remember for all the right reasons. Unfortunately, her evening at the prom was cut short by a bully who poured a jug of juice on her head … all because she thought it was funny.
Mom’s fury
Emilee’s mom Terry picked her up from school early, and took to social media to tell her furious tale.
“This is my beautiful daughter,” her post read, “who suffers from anxiety whom we had to beg to go to the prom this evening. Two hours later I collect her from the prom like this, heartbroken and in a state.
“The culprit is clearly a malicious bitch who thought she would pour a full jug of juice over her and soak her from head to toe. I hope one day someone humiliates and devastates her like she has done to my daughter!!!!”

Terry was flooded with messages of support for her daughter; those that she says have had an immeasurable impact on restoring some of Emilee’s confidence.
In an update, the girl wrote: “Wow, I just want to take the time out to thank each and every person that has gone out of the way to absolutely shower me with love and support. It is greatly appreciated and I will most certainly be eternally grateful for the extremely unexpected outcome of this situation! I’ve had so much support. The way that people have responded has absolutely overwhelmed me and has proven to me that I can get through everything and hope that this makes me a stronger person.”

No one should ever be made to feel humiliated or worthless. It boils my blood to think that Emilee had worked up the confidence to attend her prom, only for it to be shattered by a mean bully.
