It was an ordinary day. Jane Fine Foster was walking in downtown Grand Junction, Colorado when she saw something that stopped her in her tracks.
Hanging in the window of an antique shop called “A Robin’s Nest” was her mother’s 1948 wedding photo, which had been missing for more than a decade.
But it wasn’t the only shocking discovery that Jane would make that day.
When Jane saw the familiar photo in the window, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
She blinked, rubbed her eyes, and asked herself if it really could be her mom’s photo. But it was.
It was her mother’s wedding photo from 1948.
More than a decade earlier, the photo had been auctioned off after Jane’s family forgot to make a payment on a storage unit.
And from there, the trail leading to the lost photo and the rest of the family’s old belongings went cold.
After Jane recognized the beloved photo, she immediately rushed into the shop.
Jane grabbed the picture, looked around the store, and then made a shocking discovery.
Her mother’s wedding dress was also there, wrapped in a newspaper dated June 22, 1948.
“To say I was shocked, stunned, near paralyzed is an understatement. I actually screamed out loud,” Jane Fine Foster told WNYT Television.
Jane approached the store owner and asked how much he wanted for the dress, which she so badly wanted to bring back home to her family again.
The answer was more generous than she could ever have imagined.
The shopkeeper said he couldn’t charge her a penny. He was just happy that the dress had found its way back to its rightful owners.
The two missing items had finally found their way home.
Jane was overjoyed to relive some fine memories of her mother, but she struggled to comphrehend the unlikely coincidence.
“Why would I be downtown and just happen to be in that block and happen to see it? It just boggles my mind,” she told WNYT Television.
