Unfortunately, now and then, we hear a story about cowardly thieves preying on the elderly – sometimes trying to rob them in crowded places, other times even in their homes. But getting away with such this reprehensible act is not always as easy as one might think. This was certainly the case for two young men in Sweden who recently tried to rob an 80-year-old woman as she took out her garbage.
The woman walked out of her home recently to throw out the trash. The two robbers were watching her, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
After tossing her garbage out, the 80-year-old began heading back toward her home. That’s when the two robbers followed her and forced their way into her apartment.
But what the robbers thought would be easy prey turned out to be their worst nightmare.
“The woman grabbed a heavy object and slammed it into one of them,” police spokesperson Lars Förstell told a local paper.
The robbers’ plan quickly spiralled into something completely different than they had intended, with the elderly woman keenly defending herself. They quickly fled the scene.
The suspected robbers are still at large but police are now searching for two men aged between 25 and 30-years-old. The police will also question the woman’s neighbors in the hope of more information.
I really hope this leads to a quick arrest!
