So many people are grieving the loss of loved ones during this pandemic; with more than 200,000 Americans lost to this virus it seems we all know someone who has died from this horrific disease.
One woman knows this all too well after losing three members of her family to COVID-19 and five members of her family sick.
Erin Griffin said her worst fear was realized when she lost her mom to the virus.
“My biggest fear in my entire life was losing my mother,” the 40-year-old from Flourissant, Missouri, told NBC affiliate KSDK.
The first member of her family to contract the virus was her 72-year-old uncle Cornelius Brooks who died in April.
Her mom Venita Griffin and great uncle Kenneth Dortch died a month later.
“The biggest thing I would tell people that’s short and sweet is that this thing is real, and to please protect yourself in every way that you possibly can,” Erin Griffin told NBC News.
Her sister, Lawanda Griffin, also contracted the virus and spent a month in a coma with Covid-19.
“My sister actually was in a coma at the time my mother passed, so she had to wake up to the news of my mother’s passing,” Erin said.
Erin’s 14-year-old son, 82-year-old grandmother and partner also contracted coronavirus and have since recovered.
In opening up about the horrific tragedies she has endured she hopes more people will take it seriously.
“This thing is real, and love your family, and don’t take your life for granted,” she said.
My heart goes out to this incredibly strong and brave woman who has suffered so much.
Let’s not let these deaths be in vain and take this virus seriously! Please share.
