Royal family release first photos of Prince Louis – people immediately spot interesting detail in pictures

On April 23, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their third child into the world. It was a little boy, one they named Louis.

Now, to everyone’s delight, the first official pictures have been published by Kensington Palace, as per The Guardian.

Almost immediately, there was a detail in the photos that the more attentive of readers picked up on.

The picture was taken by Kate Middleton herself, the Duchess having proven herself to have quite the talent when it comes to capturing images of her children.

The photos in question were snapped on May 2, which, coincidentally, also happens to be Princess Charlotte’s birthday.

The three-year-old can be seen cradling her little brother in her arms, while leaning forward to give him a kiss on the head.

Fans who follow the royal family closely were quick to spot that Princess Charlotte is wearing a cardigan eerily reminiscent of her older brother, Prince George. In fact, it could well be the very same jumper Prince George wore in another photo…

Famous photos

Prince George reportedly wore the jumper for a photo with Queen Elizabeth II, taken on her 90th birthday. In that particular photo, the monarch is seen with her two youngest grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In another photo, young Prince Louis is seen in a white knitted sweater. Reports suggest even this piece of clothing has been recycled by the royal family, having appeared for the first time in a photo of Princess Charlotte in 2015.

Many and more have commented on the newborn prince’s resemblance to his father, Prince William.

There’s no better way to judge that for yourself than by having photos of the two sit side-by-side, as below:

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte is adjudged to look more like her mother, while Prince George is a complimenting mixture of both.

Official statement

With the release of Prince Louis’ pictures came an official statement from the palace, in which they thanked the public for their congratulations and support.

“The Duke and Duchess wishes to thank the public for their kindly announcements after Prince Louis’s birth and Princess Charlotte’s third birthday,” the statement read.

Of course, it won’t be long before the royals are in the spotlight once more. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to be wed at Windsor Castle on May 19 of this year, though it can be assumed little Prince Louis will be allowed to miss that one.
