Robert De Niro bans Donald Trump from entering all of his Nobu Restaurants

Donald Trump may be the most powerful man in the world, but it would seem there are doors even he can’t unlock.

Being the POTUS comes with pretty much unequalled authority, but since when has Robert De Niro ever played by the rules?

According to reports, the Hollywood star has banned Trump from ever being able to enter the doors of his Nobu Restaurant chain, stating that he would walk out of any establishment the US President walked into…

It’s clear there’s no love lost between De Niro and Trump – from De Niro’s side of the fence, anyway. The star, who has appeared in such films as Taxi DriverRaging Bull, Goodfellas and The Departed, was vocally anti-Trump during the latter’s presidential campaign in 2016.

At that time, he released a video branding Trump a pig, amongst other things.

“[Trump’s] so blatantly stupid. He’s a punk. He’s a dog. He’s a pig. He’s a con. He’s a bullshit artist,” De Niro said.

“He’s an idiot. He’s an embarrassment. He talks about how he wants to punch people in the face, well, I’d like to punch him in the face.”

It should come as no surprise then that his opinion of Trump has improved little since.

He revealed to British newspaper the Daily Mail that he wouldn’t let Trump in any of the Nobu Restaurants – co-owned by De Niro, Meir Teper, Drew Nieporent and Richie Notar – saying he didn’t care what Trump likes.

“I don’t care what he likes. If he walked into a restaurant I was in – I’d walk out.”

Nobu Restaurants are a high-end chain serving Japanese food, with venues dotted around the world.

Is Trump going to lose any sleep over De Niro’s words and actions? Probably not, since – as we’ve mentioned – he’s arguably the most powerful man in the world. But that’s not to say we won’t continue to watch the spat with interest!

Pretty strong words from De Niro, who of course never pulls any punches. Are you team Trump or team De Niro? Let us know in the comments box.
