Reba McEntire’s mother lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, passing away at the age of 93.
The country singing star confirmed the news on social media at the weekend, stating: “Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today. She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go. The cancer might think it won the battle but we’re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him.”
She continued: “She left knowing how much she is loved and we all know how much she loved us. We are very thankful for all the prayers, cards, calls, visits, the care-givers with their huge hearts, and the time God gave us with Mama.”
Jacqueline McEntire was a teacher in her youth, but always held the dream of being a professional country singer. She taught all four of her children to sing, thus realizing her ambitions through them.
Reba said the whole world is going to miss her mother, but that they’re thankful for the time spent with her.
Instead of flowers, the McEntire family is asking for memorials to be sent to the Reba McEntire Fund to benefit the Jacqueline McEntire Library Fund. Donations can be made online at texomagivingpartners.org/donate. In the memo line, write, “Jacqueline McEntire.”
Rest in peace, Jacqueline McEntire! We’re sending love and prayers to the McEntire family.
