Police in Indiana are investigating a fake social media profile that might have links to the murder of two teenage girls more than four years ago.
As per reports, the bodies of 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German were recovered near Dear Creek, Delphi, Indiana in February of 2017.
Abigail and Liberty had gone for a hike at the Delphi Historic Trails as they had a day off school. Tragically, they never made it home.
At the time of writing, the person responsible for their murders has never been brought to justice. He or she has remained a mystery to authorities, though police investigating the killings now have a new break to channel their efforts towards.
Sources say they are now asking for help in finding the creator of a fake social media account that was live between the years 2016 to 2017.
Indiana State Police told in a news release how the account had been run under the name ‘anthony_shots’, and had been active on Snapchat and Instagram, as well as potentially on others.
Said profile is said to have featured images of “of a known male model”. The user, meanwhile, portrayed themselves as being “extremely wealthy and owning numerous sports cars.” Police want to emphasize the fact that the model seen in the images is “not a person of interest in the investigation”.
According to the the investigating authorities, the real person behind the fake profile used their cover “while communicating with juvenile females to solicit nude images, obtain their addresses, and attempt to meet them.”
The fake account was unearthed by police during their search for the killer of Abigail and Liberty. They did not, however, outline how the individual behind the profile might be connected to the teenagers’ deaths.
Indiana State Police’s news release reads:
“Investigators would like any individual that communicated with, met, or attempted to meet the anthony_shots profile to contact law enforcement by utilizing the tip email/phone number: [email protected] or 765-822-3535.”
My heart goes out to the families of these two poor girls. To imagine they went hiking and never returned simply breaks my heart.
I for one hope to God that the person responsible for murdering these two teenagers is caught sooner rather than later.
