A grieving mother has been killed in a car crash on the way home from organizing her son’s funeral, according to reports.
As per Metro, 63-year-old Clarissa Murphy’s vehicle was rear-ended in Mobile County, Alabama on Monday, less than a week after her son passed away.
Murphy is not believed to have been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. When her car was rear-ended she was thrown out and died of her injuries.
Davon Lens, Murphy’s surviving son, said his mother was killed after leaving her home for the first time since his brother passed away. Her reason for doing so, tragically, was to help arrange his funeral.
Speaking to Fox 8, Lens said: “When I start feeling emotions, I don’t know if it was from my brother now or am I feeling that emotion for my mom now?”
29-year-old Brandon Murphy has been named as the man who hit Murphy. He was uninjured in the crash and it’s unclear whether or not he will face charges.
According to reports, Murphy and her son will be buried in a joint funeral service set to take place this Friday.
What a terrible tragedy to have befallen this family. We hope Clarissa and her son are now reunited in the Lord’s arms.
