When Jamie Snider, a 30-year-old mother of two, fell pregnant with twins, she got a message from doctors that would force her into a nightmare.
She was diagnosed with cancer – for a second time. But Jamie wasn’t one to give up easily.
She beat cancer again and gave birth to two healthy children.
Then, the day after giving birth to the twins, the unthinkable happened …
Jamie Snider was 30-years-old when she died in March 2017. Described by friends as a positive person, she had a trademark smile that she flashed wherever she went. Before falling pregnant with the twins, she’d already given birth to two daughters, Aubrey and Maddy.
The third pregnancy came as a shock, but at the same time the family embraced it as a miracle.
Shortly after the wonderful news, however, doctors informed Jamie that she was suffering from an aggressive form of cervical cancer. She wasn’t willing to let it put her down, having already beaten cancer once.
With two daughters to look after and twins developing inside her stomach, chemotherapy was a gruelling battle. Jamie was a fantastic mother, though, and after several rounds of treatment she was given the all clear for the second time!
However, in light of her cancer battle, doctors knew the delivery of the twins would be risky. At 33 weeks into the pregnancy, they decided it was safest to deliver the babies by Caesarean section. The night before the procedure, Jamie posted a picture of herself with an emotional message to all her friends:
“Tomorrow will be a great day. God has been by my side the whole time. All your prayers and love have kept me going as well. Wish me luck. I’m having a C-section at 7 and then a [radical] hysterectomy right after. I’ll be fine. Thank you, God, for keeping me positive through all the hard times.”
The birth went according to plan and Jamie became the proud mother of two more healthy children.
Sadly, the next day tragedy struck. Jamie’s heart began to fail, and she eventually passed away one day after the delivery of babies she named Camila and Nico.
“What gives me peace in my heart is she got to see those babies and hold them and be with them a little bit,” said friend Larina Campanile, as per Liftable. “Jamie was a ray of sunshine and the most beautiful free spirit. She touched everyone’s life that crossed her path. She will be extremely missed by so many.”
The loss of Jamie hit her daughters hard. And yet, her presence was felt wholesomely at her own funeral. Aubrey and Maddy looked to the sky after the ceremony and saw a smiling face in the clouds – the trademark expression Jamie carried her entire life.
Rest in peace, Jamie Snider.
