Kirk Douglas, 102, and wife Anne Buydens, 100, still inseparable after 65 years of marriage

Kirk Douglas is a name we’re all familiar with. Those of us of a certain age grew up watching his movies and seeing his incredible career unfold.

It’s one that spans decades, with his talents stretching from producer to director and then to an author of ten novels and memoirs to his name.

He’s been awarded the Oscar for Lifetime Achievement and Presidential Medal of Freedom. On top of that, at the ripe old age of 102-years-old, he also has something else to be thankful for — the love of a good woman.

Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne Buydens have been married for 65 years, and boast a combined age of over 200. They’ve been through a lot together, and yet to this day remain inseparable.

The Spartacus and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea star met his second wife, producer Anne Buydens, in Paris, while acting on location for Lust for Life.

They’ve been in a spell-bound love ever since, as is evidenced in the photo below, showing the two in their wheelchairs, looking adorable side-by-side, pushed by their carers while enjoying a sunny LA day.

The couple have been involved in numerous volunteer and philanthropic activities over the years, traveling to more than 40 countries, at their own expense, to act as goodwill ambassadors for the U.S. Information Agency, and speaking to audiences about why democracy works and what freedom means.

After suffering a stroke in 1996, Kirk went on to write about his experience in his book “My Stroke of Luck” to help others. He even writes blogs from time to time, and is believed to be the oldest celebrity blogger in the world.

In an interview with British TV host Lorraine Kelly, Kirk’s son Michael Douglas revealed how his father looks after himself. “He still has a trainer. He works out with a trainer at 101,” Michael said.

“I remember when Dad was 90 and he had a guy that he worked out with for more than 30 years, 40 years, Mike Abrams”.

“I went to see Dad one day, he was 90 and wasn’t feeling so good. I said, ‘Dad, what’s wrong? You don’t look good.’ He said, ‘Ah, Mike died.’ I said, ‘Ah Dad I’m so sorry, Mike died? How old was Mike, Dad?’

‘94.’”
