Looking for a science project to do with your little ones? Well, this super-fun egg and vinegar experiment might be just the right thing. And don’t need to buy anything, because I’m sure you have everything you need right in your kitchen. Your kids will love watching the egg’s shell disappear without making its insides spill all over. And they’ll also enjoy squeezing the egg or dropping it and watching it bounce. My only advice is to make a few of these. Your kids may get a little too excited and break a couple. Still, that’s all part of the fun, right? Check out easy the directions below. And have fun!
The directions are super simple. All you need are a raw egg, white vinegar, and a jar.
Put the egg in the jar.
Add vinegar, making sure to fully cover the egg.
And let it sit for 48 hours as the vinegar dissolves the shell. (Make sure to check out the bubbles that form as the shell dissolves!)
Be careful when you take out the egg. It may still have small pieces of shell on it, which could pierce your bouncy egg.
Carefully wash your egg to remove any remaining bits of shell.
And, voila! You have a squishy, bouncy egg!
Just make sure you don’t bounce it from too high or you might have some cleaning up to do. 🙂
