Losing a close family member or friend is one of the most painful things we can experience.
Even though we leave time to mourn and remember the deceased, only time can heal the wounds.
Before he died, one grandfather thought abou his family and how they’d miss him when he was gone. And what he did for them is among the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
The grandfather knew that he’d be leaving soon. And he wanted to do something to make the process easier for his family. But instead of leaving them a goodbye letter, he created something that the family could literally hold on to.
The grandfather took one of his plaid shirts and turned it into a pillow. But it’s not just the pillow itself that made my eyes tear up. In one corner, was a message to his loved ones:
“This is a shirt I used to wear. Whenever you hold it, know I am there. Love, Granddad.”
I think this was a beautiful way for the family to be able to remember their grandfather.
Losing a family member is always difficult. But getting a gift like this will hopefully make the grieving process a little easier to bear.
