Many daughters share a special relationship with their fathers. It’s no different for the girl in this particular story, only her dad is dead.
And she’s never met him.
Mikayla is an 8-year-old girl living with her mom in New Jersey, USA.
She’s never met her dad. He served as a police officer, but was killed before Mikayla was born when he was hit by a drunk driver.
One evening, Mikayla and her mom went to an Italian restaurant in Helmetta, known as Villa Borghese.
Police officer Joseph Quinn was also there to eat dinner.
Only, when it came time to pay for his food, Joseph was told by the waitress that his meal had already been paid for.
Joseph asked the waitress who his benevolent benefactor was, but she refused to say – the individual wanted to remain anonymous.
However, with Joseph being both curious and a police officer at heart, he decided to launch his own investigation to find the guilty party.
After a while, he realized that it was Mikayla.
Then when he heard the reason for her generosity, he was so touched that he wanted to do something nice back.
Although she never met her own father, Mikayla had always respected and looked up to officers who risk their lives everyday in order to make the world a safer place.
Joseph decided to start a collection to help pay for Mikalya’s schooling.
Today, the amount stands at a little over $15,000 – a truly fantastic way of saying thank-you to a little girl with kindness in her heart.
