He’s been around for long enough now to cement his status as a true legend, but it appears Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has no intention of resting on his laurels.
Far from it, in fact. As if being a WWE icon and on-screen Hollywood hit weren’t enough, the 46-year-old regularly provides the world with evidence that he is one of the good guys. Whether that be through charming interviews, appearances on chat shows or simply videos uploaded to his Instagram account, Johnson knows a thing or two about winning the hearts of the people.
Well, we’re pleased to say he’s done it again, and his latest show of generosity has millions applauding …
The Rock has often spoken of his humble beginnings. Growing up, his parents never owned the houses they lived in, and his family was forced to move around a lot.
That’s of course in stark contrast to the life Johnson leads now. Sure, he travels plenty, but thanks to his winning career and relentless work ethic, he’s cultivated a life for his family that means financial worries are well and truly a thing of the past. Last year alone he made $125million between all of his projects combined.
Though Johnson may have all the money he’ll ever need, however, he’s not forgotten where he came from. In fact, he’s made an effort to reward those who helped him get where he is, in particular his parents Ata and Rocky Johnson.
Not only has he bought them both cars in the past, but according to his Instagram account he surprised his mother at Christmas with a house of her choice!
Johnson wrote on his Instagram:
“This one felt good.
Surprise! Bought my mom a new home for Christmas.
All our lives growing up we lived in little apartments all across the country. Lived like gypsies on the road from one state to another.
The first home my parents ever lived in was the one I bought for them in 1999.
They divorced about 5yrs later and as with life, stuff happens and things got a little complicated.
Since then I always made sure my mom and dad have everything they’ll ever need – houses, cars etc.
But the house this time is a special one and the timing is very meaningful.
I told her to treat this card like it’s “Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket” because she gets to choose any home she wants – anywhere she wants.
I always say, if you got a good mama, then you gotta pretty good shot at becoming a decent human being.
And somehow, somewhere along the line I became one lucky SOB to be able to make stuff like this happen.
Merry Christmas Ma and WOOOHOOO enjoy your new home.
Dwanta
We know, tears in the eyes and all that. Here’s to hoping our own children grow up to become Dwanta Claus.
On a serious note, Johnson’s gesture is a beautiful one, and yet again proves why he has such a great reputation.
