This might seem harmless, but it can be stressful for the people around us—especially our children.
When parents arrived at day care in Houston, Texas to pick up their kids, the staff noticed a disturbing trend. Some of the parents were paying more attention to their phones than to their own children. The day care noticed the effect it was having on their students and decided to do something about it. They put up a notice that instantly got the parents’ attention.
Now, after a mom posted a picture of the sign on Facebook, the day care’s message is spreading like wildfire on Facebook.
When Juliana Farris Mazurkewicz saw the sign at her children’s day care, she was stunned but also agreed with it. We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone. We have heard a child say, ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy…’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child.
It is appalling.
