Wolf Gottschalk, 83, and his wife, Anita, 81, have been married for 62 years and have lived together the entire time.
But now they’re being forced to live apart ever since they were placed in separate homes for the elderly six months ago.
The Gottschalks are from originally from Germany, but were married in 1954 in Canada and decided to start a family there.
Throughout their 62 years of marriage, the couple has always lived together. But they’ve been living apart for the past eight months after being placed in separate nursing homes.
This causes the couple great anxiety, according to their grandchildren.
“The stress of this has taken control of her and she has a pace maker,” granddaughter Ashley told the Mail Online about her grandmother.
She says that whenever Wolf and Anita meet, they both immediately begin to cry.
“My grandma can’t even kiss him goodnight now. He calls out her nickname, Little Mouse, for her when he sees her,” says Ashley.
Wolf and Anita don’t have much time left together, due to their failing health and age. And their grandchildren now hope that the couple can spend their last days together.
Their story has caught attention on the web and the Fraser Health Authority, whose care Wolf and Anita are under, says it is working to ensure that the couple can live together once again.
I really hope that Wolf and Anita can live together again! Please share if you agree!
