Most parents would do anything they could to prevent their child from suffering pain and anguish.
When I think about my kids and the times they’ve injured themselves, there’s literally nothing I wouldn’t do to trade places with them and shoulder the hurt myself.
Unfortunately, we all know that’s not possible. The McCune family know it better than most. One March evening in Arizona, they were sitting around their homemade fire pit when it suddenly exploded.
Tragically, their 8-year-old daughter, Isabella, got the brunt of the explosion, suffering the worst injuries of them all…
As per Liftable, Lilly McCune said in an interview: “We never intended… for this fun night… to turn so tragic.”
While Isabella’s father sustained burns as well, it was the little girl who was seriously injured. She ended up with third degree burns all over her body and required multiple surgeries. The accident meant she couldn’t walk or speak for over two months.
It must be an incredibly frustrating time for her; particularly since she can’t go and see her favourite singer, Taylor Swift, in concert.
However, despite the fact she’s largely restricted, she was able to reach out to Taylor. The American singer is starting her “Reputation” tour in Glendale, Arizona, coincidentally not too far away from where Isabella is recovering. Isabella sent Taylor a video message asking for the star to visit her – a message, it seems, that reached Taylor’s ears.

Low and behold, Taylor paid a visit to Isabella’s hospital room, wearing a yellow gown and a broad smile.
“She just was so natural… such a breath of fresh air,” Lilly said.
Taylor spent 30 minutes with Isabella and her family, handing the girl plenty of “Reputation” merchandise and writing a special note in the third grader’s memory book.

It’s needless to say that some will say Taylor only did it as a publicity stunt, but it’s clear to see what it meant to Isabella and her family. For such a brave young girl, who has been through so much, it was the perfect gesture to ensure her spirits remain high.
