Melody Leach’s nearly 3-year-old daughter Beatrice has not yet learned to walk or talk. She has cerebral palsy. Beatrice thus remains in a wheelchair, which makes things very difficult when it’s time to go grocery shopping. She’s too big to fit into the typical toddler seat in a grocery store cart, so mom has to push her wheelchair all the while trying to grab groceries off shelves. “It’s been a trial. It’s always a trial to take Beatrice,” Melody says. But Melody’s trial did not go unnoticed. It was the subject of much ‘small talk’ around the supermarket. Store staff were paying much more attention to her and her daughter than Melody had imagined. And one day, when mom and daughter entered the store to do their groceries, they discovered a surprise. A surprise designed very specifically for them. This story, from beginning to end, just made me tear up. Absolutely moving.
I’ve watched this twice now and it’s still making me cry! Please share this supermarket’s staff’s powerful little surprise with anyone you know who may need their faith in humanity restored today.
