A 2-year-old girl from California has become the youngest American member of Mensa – she has a genius-level IQ of 146.
According to incredible reports, Kashe Quest, who has been accepted into the most prestigious high IQ society in the world, has an IQ that is some 46 points over the national U.S. average.
Mensa, founded in 1946, accepts individuals who score in the top two percent of the population in IQ tests such as the Stanford-Binet test or Cattell test. Those who score 132 and 148 on those tests respectively qualify.
As per the Stanford-Binet test website, anyone who scores over 145 is considered a “genius or near genius”. Despite being just two years of age, Kashe scored 146.
The toddler’s mother, Sukhjit Athwal, told KTTV that she first suspected something was different about her daughter because her memory “was really great.”
“She just picked up things really fast and she was really interested in learning,” Sukhjit said. “At about 17, 18 months, she had recognized all the alphabet, numbers, colors, and shapes.”
The mom also told how Kashe can identify all 50 states both by shape and location on a map, as well as count to 100 and identify elements on the periodic table by their symbols alone.
The 2-year-old is currently learning Spanish alongside English, and knows as many as 50 signs in sign language.
Sukhjit said they struggled to find a preschool or daycare capable of catering for her daughter’s ability, so she herself – helped by a background in education – has opened a preschool for Kashe and 11 other children.
“We’re kind of going at her pace and we want to just make sure that she is youthful for as long as she can be,” the mom added.
What a fantastic story to read. We’re so happy for you, Kashe, and look forward to seeing what you can accomplish in the future.
