Simone Biles is engaged!
The Olympic gold-medalist confirmed the exciting news on her Instagram Tuesday morning. She said it was the “the easiest yes.”
“I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more!”
Her boyfriend, now fiancé, Houston Texans Jonathan Owens also confirmed the couple’s engagement on his social media.
“Woke up this morning with a fiancée,” he wrote.
Biles and Owens, who might just be the cutest couple ever, took their relationship public in August 2020. Although fans began to speculate the two were together after Biles split with her ex, Stacey Ervin Jr., in March 2020.
Since announcing their relationship on social media, the two lovebirds haven’t been shy about sharing their love for each other.
Whether it’s photos with each other, cheering their significant other on, or showing their support for one another, they’re not afraid to let the world know how they feel about each other.
When Biles dealt with the twisties during the Tokyo Olympics, Owens shared a sweet message of support.
“Imma ride with you through whatever baby ❤️ Your strength and courage is unmatched and you inspire me more and more everyday SB,” he wrote. “You always gone be my champ baby and don’t you ever forget that, i love you so much and i can’t wait till you come home and i get to see that beautiful smile again. You know I’m always here for you baby ❤️❤️”
In an interview with People, Biles said the couple’s busy schedules kept them from celebrating their one-year anniversary, but they both know all they “love and appreciation” they have for each other.
“Although we didn’t get to do anything big or grand, we still have that respect that we passed a year,” she said.
At the time Biles was in Tokyo for the Olympics and Owens was getting ready to start another season with the Texans.
While dating an athlete might be hard, Biles said it’s actually worked in her favor because the two know what each other goes through.
“He’s always, always so helpful and making sure I stay on top of my therapy and all of that,” Biles told People in June 2021. “He’s the best because he also goes through it [as an athlete], so he knows exactly how it is in the process. It’s been amazing to have him.”
