Not too long ago Ozzy Osbourne announced he was leaving the United States and heading back “home” to the United Kingdom.
“America has changed so drastically. It isn’t the United States of America at all. Nothing’s united about it,” he said at the time.
In August, the heavy metal rocker had some choice words for the country that led to his successful career.
“Everything’s f*cking ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s f*cking crazy,” he told The Observer.
He and wife Sharon Osbourne were slated to move back to the U.K. in early 2023, but now it seems he’s reconsidering.
“To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America. I’m American now.”
In a new interview with Consequence, Ozzy explained that the decision to leave the U.S. came from the backlash Sharon faced after leaving The Talk in 2021.
“When my wife got called a racist on [The Talk], she is absolutely not a racist,” he said. “Her friend is Piers Morgan… She didn’t say, ‘I agree with him.’ She just respected his ability to have freedom of speech. That’s all that she said. And she got a lot of flak from that, so we actually had to have f–king armed guards and all that.”

Sharon also explained that they no longer felt like Los Angeles was the “heaven” they once knew.
“In the ’70s, if you loved music, this was the place to be. It’s not that hub anymore. It’s not exciting anymore. It hasn’t gone sideways, it’s gone down,” she said. “It’s not a fun place to live. It’s dangerous here. Every big city’s got crime, but I don’t feel safe here. Neither does Ozzy.”
Ozzy made it clear he wanted to leave behind the glamorous life of Hollywood when he said, “I don’t want to die in America. I don’t want to be buried in f*cking Forest Lawn.”
However, following what he called “a bit of flak from people” after he expressed his desire to leave the U.S., at least Ozzy has changed his tune about moving.
Shortly after making their statements in August, the Osbournes announced a 10-part reality series that would document their move. But now Ozzy says, “To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America. I’m American now.”
“To be honest with you, I don’t want to go back [to England]. F— that.”
