It’s been two weeks since Loretta Lynn died, yet tributes are still coming in for the country music legend.
One of the most recent tributes came from a surprising duo, Kelly Clarkson and Dwayne Johnson.
The pair sang a duet of Lynn’s 1967 hit, “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” during Monday’s episode of Clarkson’s talk show. And while we all know the American Idol alum can sing, many may not be aware how well Johnson can carry a tune.
Or how well the two sound together.
In 2021, Johnson shared his dreams of one day possibly becoming a country music star.
“I grew up loving real, traditional country. When I got to Nashville … I used to hang out down there and listen to all the acts, and I did have it in my mind that I was gonna become a country music singer,” he told Clarkson on her show.
While his dreams of becoming a country star like Loretta Lynn never came to fruition, he has used his voice for other projects.
For the 2016 Disney movie Moana, Johnson sang the song “You’re Welcome,” a song he estimated to have sung nearly 2,000 times to his young daughter at the time.
Beautiful tribute to an absolute legend!
