Country music legend Dolly Parton is the latest celebrity to offer their services to help keep us going through these uncertain times and her announcement is spreading cheer across the net.
Most of us have never experienced a global pandemic on this scale and with so much limit on our social interactions, trying to get through the day within the confines of our home is challenging.
Most families can be grateful they have each other at home but navigating working remotely while trying to entertain the kids is not easy.
Thankfully country music star Dolly Parton has announced a new video series where she will be reading bedtime stories in her soothing southern accent.
“Hello, I’m Dolly Parton, the book lady from the Imagination Library. I want you to join me April 2 when I start ‘Goodnight with Dolly.’ I’m going to be reading some stories from the Imagination Library,” she announced.
The ten-time Grammy Award winner will be reading us all a bedtime story in the ten-week program featuring stories including, “The Little Engine That Could,” “Llama Llama Red Pajama” and Parton’s own “Coat of Many Colors.”
Dolly, originally from East Tennessee, is a huge advocate of the importance of children reading and sends books to 850,000 children around the world every month through her gift-giving program Imagination Library.
The much-loved legend will kick off her series with the 1930s American fairytale “The Little Engine That Could”, by Watty Piper.
In announcing ‘Goodnight with Dolly’ the Imagination Library posted this message from the country queen herself.
“This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right. I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think.”
