Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympic gold medalist, reality star, and California gubernatorial candidate is joining Fox News as a contributor, according to Deadline.
She will make her first appearance on the network during Hannity Thursday night.
In a statement Jenner expressed her excitement about joining the network.
“I am humbled by this unique opportunity to speak directly to Fox News Media’s millions of viewers about a range of issues that are important to the American people.”
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott called Jenner’s story “an inspiration to us all.”
“She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience.”
Jenner came out as transgender in 2015 during an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. While initially there was a lot of support for the former Olympic athlete, Jenner was not shy about expressing her support for politicians who were against LGTBQ rights.
She also supported former president Donald Trump and said she would support him again if he ran in 2024.
The LGBTQ community let it be known they were not pleased.
Wyatt Ronan of the Human Rights Campaign, a major national LGBTQ-rights organization, told NBC News that “her support of Donald Trump, the most virulent and vocal anti-LGBTQ president in American history, and her decision to hire Trump’s inner circle for her campaign are just two examples why” she was not fit to be the leader of California.
Now Jenner is joining Fox News, one of the more conservative news organizations in the United States.
But she is no stranger to Fox. She has made several appearances on the network before.
She was the first guest on Tucker Carlson Tonight after Tucker Carlson took over Bill O’Reilly’s time slot. She also appeared on America Reports, Fox and Friends First, Gutfeld!, Hannity, and Outnumbered.
Most recently she appeared on the network to criticize the NCAA’s transgender participation policy for athletes after the University of Pennsylvania’s Lia Thomas became the first transgender athlete to win a DI NCAA championship.
