Nature has a unique way of being both cruel and beautiful all at once. If you’re lucky, you may get the opportunity to watch wildlife in action and up close. If you’re exceptionally lucky, this action can be orcas on the hunt – something few are ever fortunate enough to experience and see.
A family and friends recently got to experience just that – and something even more striking. They were out on a boat whale watching, when they suddenly became protectors of a seal – a seal that jumped up onto their boat, in the desperate attempt to escape a pack of hungry killer whales.
The boaters quickly managed to get some of the incredible footage on tape and later shared it via social media. You can watch the amazing video below – please note that some of the whale watchers get rather freaked out and there is slight use of profanity.
What would you have done if this had been you? 🙂
The seal appears rather afraid of the people on the boat, too, but seems to understand that it is still safer than in the water. What struck me was definitely the look in his eyes as he looks up at his saviors – you can just see how sad and scared he is. But, my, isn’t he so cute!
“I was out with my parents and family friends when we were looking for whales and a pod of 12 trainsient killer whales where chasing the seal. It ripped towards the boat in a desperate escape and scrambled on the deck. It fell off three times in panic and finally stayed on untill the whales gave up after about 30-45 minutes. Most intense epic experience ever. Love you Nature. What a lucky seal,” writes Kirk Fraser, who uploaded the clip to YouTube on August 22, 2016. The clip has had over 2.5 million views since then. Have a watch below.
While these guys were clearly freaked out, they sure have a story to tell and remember for the rest of their lives! Share this amazing video with your family and friends if you agree nature is just incredible!
