When a dog is rescued from a life of mental and physical abuse, the first step is to move it to a safe location.
Then comes a long period of psychological recovery where the dog learns to trust and open its heart to humans again.
But the biggest challenge is often finding a new, loving home where the rehabilitated pup can feel safe and loved.
Meet Mojo. He was found after being abandoned by his family in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was starving and had severe mange. He was in need of treatment and care. And the journey back to trusting humans again was going to be long.
The man in the picture below is Joey Wagner. He works for a volunteer animal rescue organization in Nova Scotia, Canada. He found Mojo and immediately took him to the vet. When the 3-month-old puppy started treatment, he knew it would take a long time for the dog to heal. But finding a new home could take even longer.
Many applications came in from people wanting to adopt the adorable little puppy. But for a long time, Mojo was too weak to leave the shelter. Then, one day the dog was deemed ready—and it turned out that his savior, Joey, would take him home.
Check out the moment when Joey picks up Mojo to take him home. It’s really quite magical and it left me almost in tears.
Today Mojo is doing just fine with his new owner, Joey. He even has a new dog friend. Absolutely wonderful to see!
