It’s incomprehensible for me that people leave both animals and children locked up in hot cars. Yet it happens every summer, and sometimes with devastating consequences. In Florida, police in Pensacola are fed up with people not taking responsibility for their pets. And things came to a boil last Tuesday, when officers were forced to smash a car window to save a little puppy that was dying of heat exhaustion. After the incident, police had had enough and took to social media to make a powerful point. If you leave your dog in a hot car, “we will drive your pooch to the caring folks at the Escambia County Animal Shelter and we will drop you off with the caring folks at the Escambia County Detention Facility,” the police wrote on their Facebook page.
On Tuesday, police in Pensacola, Florida were alerted to a parking lot. Someone called them after discovering a little puppy fighting for his life in a sweltering car.
The police didn’t hesitate from a second to break a window in order to save the puppy. Fortunately, the little puppy fared well, despite his irresponsible owners.
The event later drew words from Pensacola police, who put dog owners in the city on notice.
