Do horses remember old friends they haven’t seen in years? And if so, how do they react? Do they have emotions?
In 2012, Sue Blagburn repurchased Arthur. She had raised the thoroughbred when he was a foal, but had to sell him in 2008.
Before Arthur left, he had two special playmates, William and Harry. William had been with Arthur since they were foals and Harry joined them as a foal a year later. During Arthur’s time away, his two friends stayed with Sue and shared their lives with many other horses and ponies.
Now that Arthur was back, would the 8 1/2-year-old remember the pony playmates he shared his youth with? And would William and Harry recognize that little thoroughbred who was once their best mate?
Keep in mind that Sue had long since sold the field where the three horses grew up together, so at the time of this reunion, everything was new to Arthur, except for the two long-lost friends he was about to meet.
