Friesian horses have been around for several thousand years and originate from the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. The breed has its roots in the forest horse, a strong horse that lived in the forests of Scandinavia and northern Europe starting in the Ice Age.
The Friesian has undergone major changes over the years and has been used in many different ways (in the Middle Ages, it was a large warhorse that could carry a fully equiped knight into battle).
Today, the Friesian is considered to be a sociable, friendly, and intelligent horse. More recently, it has also become known for its good dressage talents and demeanor.
Frédéric Pignon is an extraordinary French horse trainer and many think he is the very best there is. In the video below, you can see him captivate the audience with no less than three Friesian stallions.
Pignon has a very special bond with his horses and his communication with them is out of this world.
