When you think of the South Pole, you probably don’t think “warm and cuddly,” but that was one woman’s experience when she visited Antartica’s Snow Hill Island.
Charlene Fritz was with a group of tourists when an outgoing young elephant seal approached her and gave her a snuggle she’ll remember for the rest of her life.
The curious pup may have been lonely, as elephant seal mothers leave their young behind only a month after giving. So it’s understandable that the two-month old turned into a cold-water lap dog when it saw Charlene.
Charlene was careful not to approach or touch the adorable seal, but the lonely pup made the first move and even went in for a kiss.
