Sometimes it can feel as though you are so close to your best friend, and yet still so far away.
For one 2-year-old boy, however, not even a high fence could separate him from his four-legged companion.
A clip of a Minnesota boy and his neighbor’s dog is now spreading like wildfire online, and it’s not at all difficult to understand why.
Savage, Minnesota, USA. One 2-year-old boy throws a ball over the fence in his backyard, with the faint hope of getting a response. His dad, Chad Nelson, sits with his camera and waits for what’s going to happen.
On the other side of a high fence – one too tall for the boy to see over – is the neighbor’s dog. He’s a playful pup who seems to have taken a liking to children.
The dog waits patiently on the other side of the fence. Then, suddenly, it comes: The ball! The 2-year-old has thrown it to his friend and the game begins.
Dutifully, the hound retrieves the object. The best thing about the clip though? It’s the way he gently gives the boy the ball back. He climbs up his side of the fence, as far as his legs will allow, and drops the ball from his mouth into Chad’s yard.
You see, sometimes the simplest gestures really are the best. What could be cooler than a classic game of fetch between a 2-year-old and his canine best friend, who also happens to be his neighbor?
