165 neglected German Shepherds saved from property in Georgia

In excess of 165 German Shepherds have been rescued from a property in Georgia, U.S., according to the Atlanta Humane Society.

According to reports, the dogs were neglected and living in filthy conditions, whilst many of them required medical attention.

The human society wrote in a January 4 Facebook post that its Animal Cruelty Unit had responded to a case of possible neglect in Candler County, central Georgia. It’s safe to say no one expected to find what they did …

The post read: “Our team assessed the scene, provided care to the most medically in-need animals, and are back on site this morning offering medical care and assistance to these dogs.”

The human society went on to ask for help in caring for the dogs it rescued. Whilst it’s not yet looking for supplies or adopters, there will come a time soon when the dogs deemed suitable will need to be re-homed.

“Your donation is urgently needed to help us provide exactly what they need right now.”

As per WSB-TV, the animals were moved to campuses in Midtown Atlanta and Alpharetta on January 5, whilst the owner of the property was arrested on animal cruelty charges.

Jessica Rock, head of legal advocacy and law enforcement support for the Atlanta Humane Society, said: “The dogs on this property are living in extremely unsanitary conditions and are in desperate need of help. Our team is working closely with Candler County Sheriff’s Department to provide the support and care needed to ensure the best outcome for these dogs.”

Officials, meanwhile, have confirmed that the animals will be given medical exams after being properly assessed.

While no animal should ever have to face conditions such as the ones these dogs did, we’re thankful they’ll now be given a second chance in life.
